Winners announced
The Art and Work Awards are a truly global event for companies and practices with art collections and art programs and on their 25th anniversary the first International Awards were held in Barcelona at the World Architecture Festival (WAF). High calibre and outstanding entries for the four Awards Categories had been received from all over the world.
The Awards Categories and Winners are:
• The Christie’s awards for corporate art collections and programs - winner Canary Wharf Group
• Art commissioned for a specific site in the working environment - winner Barbara Neijna for 'Foreverglades' at Miami International Airport
• The most outstanding contribution to art in the workplace - winner Deutsche Bank
• Buildings designed to display works of art, sponsored by International Art Consultants - winner Muma Architects for Medieval and Renaissance Galleries at the V&A in London
The first 3 categories were judged in London on 24 August. Winners were presented with their awards in Barcelona.
The Award for Buildings designed to display works of art, sponsored by International Art Consultants, was presented by the short listed entrants and judged live in Barcelona during WAF by Jack Pringle, Past president of the RIBA, Xavier Corbero the most famous living Spanish artist and Vernonique Iaciu, art consultant.

The Art & Work Awards, whose Patron is HRH princess Michael of Kent, comprised a series of events during WAF from 3 to 5 November 2010.
Details of the programme for the 3 day event can be viewed here and included visits to Gaudi buildings, the magnificent contemporary Art Museum - CaixaForum and Xavier Corbero’s amazing studio. There was a special seminar on Art and Architecture - Transforming Work and Public Spaces with Art - together with receptions, judging of Buildings designed to display works of art and keynote speeches.
